Celebrated annually on 8th September, World Physiotherapy Day highlights the vital role of physiotherapists in improving health, mobility, and quality of life. The 2025 theme, “Physiotherapy and Healthy Aging,” emphasizes preventing age-related complications, encouraging independence, and supporting active lifestyles among older adults.
Free Consultations and Screenings: Participants received comprehensive assessments for posture, joint flexibility, mobility, and balance.
Awareness Session: Faculty experts explained how physiotherapy interventions can prevent frailty, manage chronic pain, and promote active aging.
Practical Demonstrations: Students and faculty conducted demonstrations of stretching exercises, balance techniques, and home-based therapy methods for safe aging.
Lifestyle Guidance: Attendees were given printed guidelines on ergonomic practices, fall-prevention strategies, and daily exercise routines to support long-term health.
The camp provided direct healthcare services to senior citizens while also serving as a training ground for DPT students, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life community settings. Students actively participated in counseling, exercises, and awareness activities, enhancing their confidence and clinical exposure.
Caregivers and family members also attended the session, gaining valuable insights into supporting the elderly through physiotherapy-based care and preventive strategies.
The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Sanaullah, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, who highlighted the department’s vision of integrating education with service to society. He stated:
“Our goal is not only to treat illnesses but to promote preventive care and empower communities to live healthier lives. Physiotherapy ensures mobility, dignity, and independence, particularly for the elderly, and today’s initiative reflects Riphah’s dedication to building a healthier society.”
By engaging directly with the community, Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus, reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare education, professional excellence, and social responsibility. Events like this bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world impact, ensuring that students become both skilled professionals and compassionate contributors to society.
The camp concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the university’s efforts to extend free healthcare services and spread awareness about the importance of physiotherapy in daily life.
