Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus, proudly celebrated Iqbal Day with great enthusiasm and respect on 9th November, honoring the birth anniversary of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, the Poet of the East and the visionary thinker behind the concept of Pakistan. The event was organized to pay tribute to Iqbal’s remarkable contributions to literature, philosophy, and the awakening of the Muslim Ummah, while also inspiring students to reflect on his message of self-realization, hard work, and unity.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a naat that set a soulful tone for the day. Faculty members, students, and administrative staff gathered in the university auditorium, where the national flag was proudly displayed, symbolizing the ideals Iqbal dreamed of — a free, self-reliant, and progressive nation.
The highlight of the event was a series of speeches, poetic recitations, and presentations by students. Participants shared Iqbal’s famous poems and verses that emphasize the importance of Khudi (selfhood), faith, and perseverance. The young speakers eloquently expressed how Iqbal’s philosophy continues to guide the youth of today toward a life of purpose, moral strength, and contribution to society.
Faculty members also addressed the gathering, discussing Iqbal’s role not only as a poet but as a philosopher and reformer who envisioned a strong Muslim identity and laid the intellectual foundation for the creation of Pakistan. They encouraged students to study Iqbal’s works deeply and apply his teachings in their personal and professional lives.
In addition, a quiz competition and poster exhibition were organized to creatively engage students with Iqbal’s literary and ideological legacy. Students showcased their talent by designing posters reflecting Iqbal’s thoughts on education, youth, and national unity.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants and winners of the competitions. The Head of Campus appreciated the organizing team and encouraged students to follow Iqbal’s vision of self-discovery, determination, and service to humanity.
Overall, the celebration of Iqbal Day at Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus was not merely a tribute but a reminder of Iqbal’s timeless message — to awaken the inner self, seek knowledge, and strive for excellence. The event instilled a renewed sense of patriotism and motivation among students to play their role in the progress of the nation, just as Allama Iqbal envisioned.
