The Department of English: Linguistics and Literature at Riphah International University, Sahiwal Campus, is dedicated to exploring the English language and literature through academic excellence, critical inquiry, and intellectual development. The BS English program offers a comprehensive study of both linguistics and literature, enabling students to understand the structure, use, history, and evolution of language alongside the richness of literary works from classical to contemporary traditions. In the Linguistics stream, students explore key areas such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and discourse analysis. The Literature component introduces students to British, American, Postcolonial, and World Literature, encouraging critical analysis of literary texts, themes, genres, and cultural perspectives. Through research projects, presentations, critical essays, and interactive learning activities, students develop strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.
